Present

Ben Fry

Ben is a PhD student studying the instrumentation and data analysis algorithms for diffuse correlation spectroscopy and diffuse optical spectroscopy. With a background in mathematics and artificial intelligence, he’s interested in the application of machine learning to improving optical parameters value recovery from DCS and DOS boundary data allowing the estimation of clinically relevant markers.

Edwin Forero

Edwin is a PhD candidate at the University of Campinas working on the development of fNIRS methods for single-trial classification, with applications in brain-computer interfaces (BCI) and neurofeedback. He holds a B.Sc. in Physics from Universidad Nacional (Colombia) and an M.Sc. in Physics from the University of Campinas, Brazil.

Leonardo B. Mose

Leonardo is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Campinas. His current research explores how physiological signals collected from smartwatches can be used to monitor mental health — based on self-report questionnaires — and sleep quality. He holds a MSc and PhD in Psychological Assessment from Universidade of São Francisco, Brazil.

Luis F. Bortoletto

Luis is a PhD candidate at the University of Campinas studying how fNIRS and other wearable devices can be used to understand anxiey and anxiety disorders in natural settings. He obtained his B.S. in Physics from the same University in 2021.

Maisie Sanderson

Maisie is a PhD student focusing on the use of TD-fNIRS to study brain function and neuroplasticity. She completed her MSci in Physics at the University of Glasgow in 2025, with a dissertation on brain tumour imaging using diffuse optical imaging techniques. Her research interests lie at the intersection of computational modelling and optical neuroimaging, with the goal of advancing how brain activity is measured and understood in the context of rehabilitation.

Víctor J. Sanchez

Victor is a PhD candidate at the University of Campinas working with functional connectivity and analyzing brain complexity as captured with fNIRS under several scenarios. He obtained his B.S. in Physics from the National Polytechnic School in Ecuador, and his M.Sc. in Applied Physics at the University of São Paulo, Brazil.
